Recently I saw two local children dancing in the street to Stayin’ Alive, only they replaced the lyrics with “I, I, I am very nice, very nice”), so I was a bit disappointed that I didn’t get any trick-or-treaters this year.

This Guardian photo gallery of phantasmagorical fakery showcases “spirit photography” of the late 1800s, and features Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and Édouard Isidore Buguet (pictured).
On Halloween itself, Kate Nash performed all the songs from Once More with Feeling, the musical episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Here she is singing Going Through the Motions:

Jedward let out their moody acoustic side with this Skyfall cover. Altogether now, “let the sky fall / when it crumball / we will stand tuh-cough-cough / at Skyfall…”
Are you extremely elderly like me? Do you remember Misty, the spooky girls’ comic from the 1970s and 1980s? Well, a bunch of Misty issues are now available online! At the risk of self-plugging, I wrote about Misty here, but you can skip that if you like, and just read The Cult of the Cat or The Four Faces of Eve, or download some of the comic strips on your Kindle. Sometimes I love living in the future:
Now, here is something REALLY creepy – someone recorded a baby grizzling then pitched-down the recording. As one commenter says, “WTF it sounds like Peter Griffin throwing up”. Listen at your peril.
Was that a bit much for you? Never mind – here’s something that’ll make it all better: a toddler dressed as Dave Grohl:
