Cheryl Hewitt – Owner of The Furry Godmothers – an animal care service in Liverpool that provides dog walking, pet sitting, feeding and boarding.
How did you get your current job?
I created the business together with my Mum, Christine.
What does an average day look like?
Depending on the time of year an average weekday is usually walking 5-6 of our regular customers and possibly also visiting some cats who are staying at home whilst their owners are away. Weekends involve dog boarding and pet sitting!
What’s the best thing about your job?
Being greeted by excited little “customers” who get to know us and are always so happy to see us! Also working alongside my Mum and not being stuck behind a desk!
Are there any downsides to your job?
It can be sad when we have to say goodbye to animals we’ve grown close to.
What did you want to be as a child?
As a child anything that involved Liverpool Football Club/as a teenager anything that involved rock and roll bands – I ended up as a Receptionist for the NHS when I left school!!
If you could do any other job, what would you choose?
I can’t think of anything I’d rather do right now – even if it involved Liverpool FC or rock and roll!!
